While Interviewing, normally Employers looks for some basic things in a candidates like intelligence i.e. both intellectual and emotional, leadership qualities, communication skills, ethics, passion towards work, competence, etc.
Preparing for an interview
If you have got a interview call, you should look for Company’s main products and services and get a fair idea of its business and likely new products and services, Its key markets, its position in market and between major competitors, its financial position / profit / turnover, its history, reputation and achievements. You should arrange all the papers required in a folder like Resume / CV, call letter, degree certificates, mark lists, NSS, NCC, sports / games certificates, experience certificates, references.
On the Previous Day, confirm the venue of the interview, distance, and mode of transport. Get a clear idea of location of the venue earlier.
It is very important to Relax, have good sleep, visualise and pray
The Interview Day
Try to reach the venue at least 45 minutes ahead of the interview. Get yourself familiar with the ambience and must visit washroom before the interview. Not only it eliminates any chance of urgency but your walk to washroom also gives you a sense of office environment. It is suggest not to carry too much baggage and report to the concerned person immediately on arrival.
While waiting for your turn, you should maintain the decorum, mingle with other candidates politely, avoid smoking, chewing, flirting, gossiping or making defamatory comments. You should greet others present, especially those sitting nearby. It is advisable to switch off the mobile or atleast keep it on silent mode.
While Entering The Interview Hall, show your confidently and not arrogance. After entering the room, shut the door gently and smile and greet the interviewers. Shake hands only if they offer their hand.
During the Interview, maintain eye contact and be attentive and listen carefully. You should lean forward but don’t lean on the table and don’t slouch. Don’t toss your files across and while handing over your file, keep the right side facing them. Don’t laugh or giggle but smile gently and be polite.
Use the words “Please” and “thank you” for putting your points across. You may differ in opinion with interviewer, however it is important to have a right reasoning for your opinion. Never argue but can orally acknowledge. Sometimes, interviewer may put the wrong perspective just to judge you. So it is very important to be yourself.

Some of the Behavioural Aspects which may be “Unfavourable” are lack of personal or career goals, lack of enthusiasm and confidence, not owning up responsibility for mistakes, Self-justification, aggressiveness, Lack of emotional maturity, negative and cynical attitude, Over-reacting to questions, lacking sense of humour, Complaining about various things and previous employers.
